The mood in the houses is vibrant. I love amongst vibrant women. They are smart, talented, beautiful, driven, happy, compassionate, loving women. Walking in the house is like coming home. You are greeted with smiles, hugs, and kisses. You are genuinely loved and cared for. This is what it is like to live with the women of Wipe Every Tear.
The girls I live with are compassionate and caring. I have been in the houses when not feeling well and the moment
the girls learned I was not feeling well, I was glued to the couch. I was not allowed to get up or do anything while they insisted on taking care of me, no matter how much I insisted back that I was just fine. The girls would have none of it, they were going to make sure that I got better.
The girls I live with are funny. They love to laugh, making jokes or trying to scare us by yelling “Spider!” Selfies are a regular thing in the house, like making dinner or doing laundry (but less obligatory). We must take pictures together to capture the moments we have together.
The girls I live with are smart, responsible and driven. Every night, the sounds of homework fill the air. Or should I say silence? The girls are dedicated to their studies and work hard to do well in each subject. They are busy putting together projects, building things, making computer programs or videos. Whatever it takes, they want to do well. They tutor one on one each week. They skip swimming to go to classes. They make the difficult choices so that they can have a brighter future.
The girls I live with are talented. Each of the girls is learning some form of music from teachers that come every week. They are learning guitar and voice lessons and they are amazing. Many nights at the house are filled with the sounds of practice. Flat notes, high notes, low notes, beautiful notes.
The girls I live with are hungry. They are hungry for the presence of God. Each night we gather together and study God’s Word together in our devotional time. We worship together, read together, share with each other, and encourage one another. God speaks to each of us in unique and special ways and it is beautiful to share our experiences with one another.
The girls I live with inspire me. Adversity has come their way and they have said “I will not give up.” And they have not given up. It has not been easy to transition to a new life. It never is. But these amazing women have chosen to forsake the old and embrace the new with a level of courage and bravery that I have never seen before. I am incredibly proud to call them my sisters, my friends.
I’d love to see that hunger, here…..
love it!
