In the Club

I walked through the front doors, not really sure what I was going to find. I had a feeling it would be similar to what I have seen before, but this was an American strip club, so I wasn’t entirely sure. What I did know was that the thing that had brought me here was the same that had brought me to so many clubs in the recent past: love.

We dropped off the pizzas on the pool tables in the back of the club, not yet open. We then opened the door that said “employees only,” and stepped into the dressing room where women prepare themselves every night to be paraded in front of men as a form of entertainment, as if they were merely objects to be used rather than the beautiful daughters of God that they are.

What I found in that dressing room was beauty. Sisterhood and friendship were evident amongst the ladies and they accepted us quickly. I had been invited to come with a group of women that come every month and bless the ladies that work there with love through gifts and friendship. These ladies work hard to make the women working at the club to feel important, seen, loved. They listen as the girls tell about their lives and offer them encouragement. It is beautiful, and as the newcomer, I enjoyed watching the interactions taking place between everyone in the room and adding in my jokes and comments on occasion.

These girls are no different than you and I. They are no different than the girls I have met anywhere else in the world. We are all women, created by God, daughters of the King, beautiful in every way. We are sisters, belonging to the same Father who loves us and never stops pursuing us in His infinite love. We have all been gifted by God to bring life, to bring joy and beauty, and no matter how much the enemy tries to steal these from us, these still reign true of every woman on this earth.

I am passionate about all people, women especially, discovering their true identity in the Father that loves them so greatly. This passion follows me wherever I am and I am so excited that God has invited me to bring His love and truth to women all over the world, even here in Georgia. That’s what is beautiful about calling, it has no boundaries. Our calling has no border or place it works or doesn’t. Our calling, the thing God designed us to do, can be done anywhere. I am called to bring freedom to the captives, sight to the blind, healing to the brokenhearted, and I will do this in whatever place I find myself in, among whomever I find myself amongst.
